The 2026 Del Mar Racetrack is one of the most attended horse racing venues in the country, drawing crowds from across California and beyond for eight weeks each summer and fall. The track sits on the Pacific coast in Del Mar, 20 miles north of San Diego, and on any given race day, its surrounding streets absorb the full weight of that attendance. Via de la Valle, the primary I-5 access point, backs up well before the first post at 2 p.m. and holds that congestion long after the last race clears.
The rideshare pickup lot sits on Jimmy Durante Boulevard – meaning anyone ordering a vehicle after the final race joins every other attendee walking to the same spot, requesting from the same driver pool, at the same moment. On Pacific Classic Day or Opening Day, that is a 45-minute problem standing in the coastal sun. For clients who want the day to begin and end without that uncertainty, our Del Mar Race Track limo service is planned around the track’s access points, traffic patterns, and race-day conditions.
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club runs two meets annually, each with its own character and crowd profile.
Our private transportation to Del Mar Racetrack removes the single largest variable of the day before it becomes a problem. The I-5 southbound approach through Via de la Valle is the most direct route – and the one that slows first. The City of Solana Beach formally advises against using it on Opening Day. Attendees traveling from San Diego who exit there on a Saturday afternoon in August are making a decision that adds 20 to 40 minutes to a trip that should take 25.
The functional alternative – exiting Del Mar Heights Road and approaching via Camino Del Mar – requires knowing it exists. A chauffeur who covers this track weekly already uses it by default. The difference between the two routes on a sold-out race day is not a matter of preference. It is the margin between arriving before the first post and arriving during the third race.
Our luxury transportation to Del Mar races runs most efficiently when departure is locked before the day begins. Three observations from regular service at the track:
Transfers for Turf Club members and Clubhouse guests carry a different expectation than general admission. These attendees are rarely arriving just before the first post. Lunch reservations, hospitality programs, hosted events, and private-box gatherings begin well before the opening race, so arrival timing differs from standard attendance. For them, the drop-off experience becomes part of the day itself rather than simply a way of reaching the track.
Our private Del Mar transportation manages direct entry at the appropriate gate, and a chauffeur who knows the difference between a day when the lot at Gate 1 is accessible and one when it is not. For corporate groups hosting clients in private boxes or suites, a coordinated multi-vehicle arrival is arranged in advance with staggered drop-off times rather than a queue.
Our service is available for single vehicles, executive transfers from San Diego International Airport (20 miles south), and full-day programs that include hotel pickup, track arrival, and a confirmed post-race return.
Summer Saturdays, Opening Day, and Pacific Classic weekend generate some of the highest transportation demand of the season and are frequently reserved well in advance.

Since 2002, we’ve helped guests make the most of one of Southern California’s most celebrated horse racing traditions. Competition days at Del Mar follow a predictable pattern: arrival congestion builds before the first post, parking fills quickly on major race days, and post-race departures often create the longest delays of the afternoon. Planning transportation in advance helps remove those variables and allows guests to focus on the day itself rather than the logistics surrounding it.
